For this induction task we had to plan, shoot and edit a short film we couldn't use more than 20 shots. the film had to be called 'The Package' then we had to plan a film using our own ideas. My group and i came up with the idea to have our film as a deserted world with two thirds or more of the world killed by an unknown disease and Shannon was a lone survivor who happened to have the cure and she found Joe who played a scientist who could mass produce it to give to the world as a cure for the unknown disease but then as Joe is experimenting George who plays a mercenary comes in and kills both Shannon and Joe and steals the cure and that's the plot for our film but during our editing we had to find suitable music and sound effects but we also did a cool trick where we edited a small white slightly opaque circle onto a frame of our film when George was shooting to make it look like a silencer flash this was a cool effect but unfortunately hardly anyone in my class noticed it so i felt as if it were a bit wasted.
The music we used was called 'Lurking Fear' and we used this because it was just the right amount of ominous and mysterious but didn't overwhelm the audience. we also used silencer gun shots and a creaking door. i think the only pieces of editing that needed improving were some match on actions and the title as it just doesn't suit our short film.
The match on actions needed to be re shot as when George walked into the room he had the gun in his left hand but then when he raised it, it appeared in his right hand so this needs fixing but apart from that i think my film was pretty good but a piece of feedback from a classmate was that the shot could be a bit quicker to increase tension.
GUIDANCE
You must create a blog post analysing your finished sequence, with screenshots to illustrate your points.
The first thing on the post should be the embedded finished video.
Then you must explain how you have used the following techniques. You should explain what the technique is, and what it is used for, and then you must EVALUATE how successful you have been in using it. You should use screenshots as much as possible.
- Mise-en-scene
- Lighting
- High or low camera angles.
- Different shot distances.
- Any camera movement.
- Fades or dissolves.
- The Continuity System:
- 180 degree rule
- Establishing shots
- Match cuts on action
- Eyeline match cuts
- POV shots
- Shot-reverse shot
The blog post need not be huge but you must cover all these areas.
Incomplete. Please finish urgently.
ReplyDeleteLewis this is STILL not complete. You need to follow the guidelines much more carefully. If you need help we can do this in SET. Please come to SET this Thursday.
